CUPPING

Cupping has been practiced for thousands of years for the treatment of disease and pain. It is a part of TCM(traditional Chinese medicine) that focuses on the movement of blood, energy-called qi-and fluids, such as lymph-which circulates around the body’s tissues.

Oriental medicine states pain is due to stagnation of these systems. This stagnation can be a result of injury or stress. Cupping is believed to stimulate flow of blood, lymph and Qi to the affected area. Its uses include relieving pain in the muscles, especially back pain from stiffness or injury, and clearing congestion in the chest, which can occur with colds and flu.

Cupping is a therapeutic method that strengthens the body’s healing power rather than drowning it in chemical substances of medications. It does not take away organism’s ability to heal itself and does not annihilate nature’s healing power. This is a healing art whose quality is reflected in the fact that its effectiveness has persisted for 5000 years already.

*Dry Cupping: this is the process of using a vacuum on different areas of body in order to gather the blood in that area .

*Massage Cupping: This is similar to dry cupping but oil is applied to the skin, before applying the cups in order to allow easy movement of the cups. This process allows the blood to flow and reach the parts of the body which is massaged freely.
